Writing Funk
I've been in a writing funk. I think I could probably piece together why, but I'll skip that for now and get to the goods. I can't leave out the fun things that we've been up to the past month or two. It wouldn't be fair to our Online London Memory Book ;)
Van Morrison:
In June we went to see Van Morrison with two good friends of ours (and fellow ex-pats from San Diego). I didn't think that I would know any of Van's songs, but I looked him up and realized I knew quite a few. . . and many of them were major hits! I couldn't wait. Plus, he was performing at Hampton Court Palace, home to Henry VIII, so either way it would be a great night. And it was . . . even though he didn't play a SINGLE song that I knew. Not one. After I took in all the pretty sights and tried my best to hum along for about 5 or 6 songs, I started yawning. Turns out, concerts are more fun when you know the songs. Next time I'll call ahead for the set list ;)
Still a wonderful and memorable night that we surely won't be able to experience once back in America.
Wimbledon:
After urges from our friends to "make sure you go to Wimbledon before you leave London," D looked into how to get us tickets. Turns out, you have to wait in a long queue and hope you get to see a game at one of the courts. We were totally ready for that. Until D got a call from work offering us tickets: lunch before, Centre Court seats, afternoon tea. Done...we're in!
What an awesome day!!!
I've never been a big tennis gal. I like to volley and run around the court for exercise, but the rules always seem to escape me. But, that doesn't mean that I didn't love every minute of the matches (and the view of David Beckham wasn't too bad either).
Portugal:
In an attempt to go to new places, and places we likely won't visit once returning home to the US, we decided to take a quick weekend trip to the Algarve in Portugal. It was beautiful, it was relaxing, and it was just wonderful to get away. There is something healing about feeling the sun on your face and the sand and water on your feet.
Home:
Quick trip home. Saw some work friends, celebrated a wonderful man, spent time with family, surprised a bride, and got to the beach. This trip came at a good time for me and it was very rejuvenating!!!
While I was off gallivanting in American, D was in Pamplona, Spain with a Bachelor party for "Running of the bulls." In case you haven't ever heard of this 'super fun' and dangerous event...check it out Video (Warning: violence, injuries, and blood). Needless to say, I wasn't keen on having D run. I put the big 'ol kibosh on that one. Happy wife, happy life. Right?

Super Delay - May & June
This is the longest blog hiatus that I've been on since I started writing over a year ago. I've had non-stop visitors and it's been amazing, but little alone time for writing.
After our fun and exciting month of April, we came back to London and had my sister in law and her boyfriend visit for 10 days. We had a blast. We toured London, went to places that D and I haven't been before, had some great meals, and celebrated D's 32nd birthday with our friends. I'm so so glad that KK got to visit before we move home. It was so great having her here.

After KK and Cy left, my parents came a few days later. They got here Friday morning and a few hours later we headed to Paris for the weekend. My parents had never been before, and it was my birthday, so we killed two birds with one stone and enjoyed a lovely long weekend in the city of love. The weather was beautiful and we had a really memorable trip. I'm so glad that my parents got to explore more of Europe during their third trip to London.
We spent the remainder of their time here relaxing, cleaning out our flat, and taking a couple day trips out of London.

Chad's here now. He's spending part of the summer in Europe and we're lucky enough to have him here for a while.
It's so nice to have familiar (American) faces here in London. It definitely helps quell the homesickness that I often feel in the summer. I still miss the beach, but I'll be there soon enough. Plans to go back home in August.
Until then, I'll soak up all that London has to offer and enjoy the exciting anticipation that going home always brings.

Las Vegas, Home, & a Wedding
Vegas
I was a Vegas Virgin. Wasn't planning on abstaining, but I never had an opportunity to go before. D had been a few times. Ya know, 'with the guys,' but me, I stayed home and cleaned the house.
Jokes. Jokes.
I was invited by PK a few months ago. D insisted that I go. I was shocked. I didn't think it was a good idea to fly all the way home to go to Vegas with a friend and a bunch of people I hadn't met before. But, we realized that it was a weekend before a wedding we were both a part of. Perfect timing. Love killing two birds with one stone.
Las Vegas was a blast. I pulled my first all-nighter since college (considering the 3 hour time difference from the East Coast - don't even get me started if my body was still in 'London or Thailand time' ... 8 and 14 hours ahead).
On Saturday we saw Britney Spears. We had really great seats, which made her show a lot better than it would have been from the back. I rarely say that sort of thing (Beyonce was great from the nosebleeds), but it was a mediocre performance, so we needed every benefit we could get. It pains me to say this, because I really want to pull for her, but she was robotic. She lost her mojo somewhere along the way. It was sad, but still a great memory.
The weekend was such a blast!! I loved everyone who we were with. It definitely felt like I had known them for longer than just a short weekend. I'm hopeful that once we move back to New York we'll get to spend much more time together. I'm really glad that D encouraged me to go ... and that PK invited me :)
Drew got to visit his family in Wisco ... I miss the kids big time!!! Thankfully we'll get to see them in August :)
Wedding
Dave and Liz got married last weekend in Mystic, Connecticut. D and I were both honored to be a part of it. D was a groomsman and I did a reading. Their weekend was beautiful from start to finish and I'm so happy we got to share it with them.
