Las Vegas, Home, & a Wedding

Vegas

I was a Vegas Virgin.  Wasn't planning on abstaining, but I never had an opportunity to go before.  D had been a few times.  Ya know, 'with the guys,' but me, I stayed home and cleaned the house.
Jokes. Jokes.

I was invited by PK a few months ago.  D insisted that I go.  I was shocked.  I didn't think it was a good idea to fly all the way home to go to Vegas with a friend and a bunch of people I hadn't met before.  But, we realized that it was a weekend before a wedding we were both a part of.  Perfect timing.  Love killing two birds with one stone.

Las Vegas was a blast.  I pulled my first all-nighter since college (considering the 3 hour time difference from the East Coast - don't even get me started if my body was still in 'London or Thailand time' ... 8 and 14 hours ahead).

On Saturday we saw Britney Spears.  We had really great seats, which made her show a lot better than it would have been from the back.  I rarely say that sort of thing (Beyonce was great from the nosebleeds), but it was a mediocre performance, so we needed every benefit we could get.  It pains me to say this, because I really want to pull for her, but she was robotic.  She lost her mojo somewhere along the way.  It was sad, but still a great memory.

The weekend was such a blast!!  I loved everyone who we were with.  It definitely felt like I had known them for longer than just a short weekend.  I'm hopeful that once we move back to New York we'll get to spend much more time together.  I'm really glad that D encouraged me to go ... and that PK invited me :)

Home

So happy 'Uncky' is home
So sad he's going to Wisconsin
Love my Godchildren <3
Drew got to visit his family in Wisco ... I miss the kids big time!!! Thankfully we'll get to see them in August :)

Wedding

Dave and Liz got married last weekend in Mystic, Connecticut.  D and I were both honored to be a part of it.  D was a groomsman and I did a reading.  Their weekend was beautiful from start to finish and I'm so happy we got to share it with them.
Got to drive by (and through) the city ... made me so happy

Feel thankful for our fun month of April, but I'm happy to be home and settled.

H Pylori Free

April 23 I found out that I tested negative for H. Pylori.  Gone! Eradicated! Wiped out!

I cried tears of joy!  Things could be worse, please don't get me wrong, but it was weighing on me for the past several months.
No more nausea, pain, or worrying about strange symptoms.

Moving on, with positive thoughts about the future, and washing
my hands a few extra times per day ... just in case ; )

Thailand

We are finally home from our Adventuresome April.  It has been a crazy-busy whirlwind of a month...filled with jet lag, a beautiful Thailand vacation, time spent with family, 60+ hours of traveling, sleepless nights in Las Vegas, and a wedding.  I covered 4 different time zones within a week.  It's safe to say that I'm not fully grounded yet.  I slept 13 hours the first night we were home and I still felt tired.  It will come with time.  We have no travel plans for a while and I think that's a good thing.

Thailand was incredible.  We stuck to the islands after a warning about visiting Bangkok during their political upheaval.  I felt brave enough traveling 15 hours to Southeast Asia and I wasn't really into adding another element of concern or fear to our trip.  Our 'holiday' was meant to be de-stressing and relaxing.

We visited Naka Island - right off of Phuket (Poo-ket) and Phi Phi Island (Pee-Pee).  It was truly magical (minus the mosquitos, obviously).  We cruised around most days on a long-tail boat ... exploring the caves, kayaking, and doing lots of snorkeling.  The rest of the time we relaxed by the pool or by the beach.  We talked, we read, we swam.  It was totally a D&V kind of trip.  Not overly adventurous, but just enough that we felt good about our efforts and not at all guilty during our 'lazy' moments.

Warning: Lots of pictures ... so hard to narrow it down.  Scroll at your own risk.

Naka Island
Had to crawl through the caves to see this beauty
Kayaking in and around the grottos
- The Floating Village -
it was a sad sight and I felt so blessed as I walked by these peoples homes
James Bond Island
Massages by the beach? Yes please!
Sunset from our room

Had to ;)
Long-tails

Zero enhancements!
Spent the day with these gorgeous and happy girls and their dad out on the long-tail
 Good morning!
It's Thailand New Year...and we're getting soaked in Patong with our new buddies (Not pictured: me annoyed because I got soaked by random drunk men)
Saw a Lady Boy show.
These are men. Even the woman next to D.  A man.
Leaving Naka - banging the gong and making a wish

Phi Phi Island
No editing
Read 3 books this trip.  I'm bragging about it.  Because I'm proud.
Hadn't felt this relaxed in a while
Had the best meal in the little Thai village behind our hotel - amazing people !
Maya Bay
... where "The Beach" was filmed - wish Leo had been there ...

Could swim in that water forever.  Unfortunately, all things must come to an end.
Thanks for the memories Thailand!!
